Dark Places is finally a movie!

So Dark Places has finally become a movie! Yaaaay!I’m quite excited about this. I read this book quite some time ago after watching Gone Girl. I haven’t actually read Gone Girl because I’d never heard about Gillian Flynn, but heard so much fuss over the movie, so of course, I went and saw it, loved it and then searched for something to read by this author and chose Dark Places. I don’t know whether I will read Gone Girl after watching the movie though…

I really did enjoy Dark Places, though by what I’ve seen, it isn’t one of her most loved books. I’ve seen a lot comments online that claim Sharp Objects is way better, so I’m interested in reading it! Anyway, I still enjoyed Dark Places and I believe Gillian Flynn is an exceptional writer. In case you haven’t read the book, here’s the summary;

Libby Day was seven when her mother and two sisters were murdered in “The Satan Sacrifice of Kinnakee, Kansas.” She survived—and famously testified that her fifteen-year-old brother, Ben, was the killer. Twenty-five years later, the Kill Club—a secret society obsessed with notorious crimes—locates Libby and pumps her for details. They hope to discover proof that may free Ben. Libby hopes to turn a profit off her tragic history: She’ll reconnect with the players from that night and report her findings to the club—for a fee. As Libby’s search takes her from shabby Missouri strip clubs to abandoned Oklahoma tourist towns, the unimaginable truth emerges, and Libby finds herself right back where she started—on the run from a killer.

The thing I realised about these books is that there isn’t really that many options as to who the murderer could be. It’s not like Agatha Christie’s murder mysteries where it ends up being the sister of the aunt who was married to the guy that was serving the milk in the hotel next door. But Gillian does manage to surprise you either way.

Here’s the movie trailer for Dark Places! Let me know what do you think about it becoming a movie? Would you have wanted Sharp Objects to have been made a movie before Dark Places? Did you enjoy reading Dark Places? Let me know!

I’m not sure the exact release date… I think they haven’t said it yet? But it’ll probably be soon!
